The Miami Dolphins sign safeties Donovin Darius and LaMont Thompson

The Dolphins have acted quickly to replace the injured Yeremiah Bell as they have signed free agents Donovin Darius and LaMont Thompson.  Darius played in 10 games last season and he made 48 tackles and defensed 3 passes.  Darius has played in 115 games in his NFL career and he has made 613 tackles, has defensed 49 passes, has 2 sacks, forced 8 fumbles and had 14 interceptions.  Darius is a great run support safety with a mean streak.

Thompson played in all 16 games last season for the Titans and he made 73 tackles, defensed 8 passes and intecepted 3 passes.  Thompson has now played in 77 games in his NFL career and he has made 234 tackles, has defensed 20 passes, has 1 sack, forced 2 fumbles and intercepted 9 passes including 1 that he returned for a TD.

The Miami Dolphins sign TE Courtney Anderson

The Miami Dolphins have signed Courtney Anderson to battle David Martin for the starting tight end job.  Anderson played in all 16 games (11 starts) for the Raiders last season and he caught 25 passes for 285 yards (11.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Anderson has played 3 years in the NFL and he has played in 39 games (28 starts) and he caught 62 passes for 763 yards (12.3 avg) with 6 TD grabs.  This was a good move for the Dolphins who want to have the TE be a big part of the offense in 2007.

The Dolphins have signed RB Ray Perkins and C Jonathan Ingram.  Perkins was with head coach Cam Cameron in San Diego last season but he didn’t play a down.  He fill fight it out for a reserve role for the Fins this season.  Ingram was a depth signing as he didn’t play a down all season for the Kansas City Chiefs.  He has only played in 4 games in his 3 season NFL career. 

The Miami Dolphins sign OT Mike Rosenthal

The Dolphins have signed OT Mike Rosenthal to a 1-year contract.  He played in 15 games (3 starts) for the Minnesota Vikings last season and he’s played in 89 games (58 starts) over his 8 year NFL career.  The 6′7″, 315 pound Rosenthal will likely be a backup player as the Dolphins will be looking for offensive linemen in the draft later this month.

The Miami Dolphins trade kicker Olindo Mare to the New Orleans Saints for a 6th round pick

The Dolphins have traded Olindo Mare to the Saints for a 6th round pick.  This was an expert stroke by the Dolphins who refused to cut Mare despite the fact that they had signed Jay Feely to replace him.
