The Dolphins may lost Yeremiah Bell for the season with an Achilles Injury.  Bell had 5 tackles in the game Sunday against the Redskins before he injured himself.  This is a shame for both Bell and the Dolphins as he played pretty well last season.  Traveras Tillman (who lost his job to Bell last season) and Cameron Worrell will battle it out to replace Bell in the starting lineup.  Worrell had 4 tackles and Tillman had 2 in the season opener.

The Miami Dolphins release Cory Schlesinger and Az-Zahir Hakim

The Miami Dolphins have cut veterans Cory Schlesinger and Az-Zahir Hakim as neither of them did much in the pre-season.  Schlesinger was beat out at fullback by rookie Reagan Mauia who is a 6′0″, 270 pound battering ram as a lead blocker from Hawaii.  Schlesinger carried the football 4 times for 6 yards (1.5 ypc) and Az-Zahir Hakim didn’t even catch 1 pass in the pre-season.

The Miami Dolphins lose linebacker Joey Porter for a little while

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Dolfans News, Injury Reports, General by dawgpounded on Tuesday 7 August 2007 at 2:26 pm

The Dolphins will lose Joey Porter for the whole pre season and he is doubtful for week #1 after undergoing knee surgery yesterday.  Porter played in 14 games last season for the Steelers and he made 55 tackles, had 7 sacks, 2 interceptions (1 returned for a TD) and he defensed 3 passes.  Donnie Spragan will replace Porter until he returns to the field of play.  Spragan played in all 16 games last season for the Dolphins and he made 50 tackles, had 1.5 sacks, forced 1 fumble and recovered 1 fumble.

The Miami Dolphins sign TE Courtney Anderson

The Miami Dolphins have signed Courtney Anderson to battle David Martin for the starting tight end job.  Anderson played in all 16 games (11 starts) for the Raiders last season and he caught 25 passes for 285 yards (11.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Anderson has played 3 years in the NFL and he has played in 39 games (28 starts) and he caught 62 passes for 763 yards (12.3 avg) with 6 TD grabs.  This was a good move for the Dolphins who want to have the TE be a big part of the offense in 2007.

The Miami Dolphins release Daunte Culpepper

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Dolfans News, General by dawgpounded on Saturday 21 July 2007 at 4:19 pm

The Dolphins decided to pull the plug on Daunte Culpepper after his rough 2006 season.  He only played in 4 games for them and he completed 81 of 134 (60.4%) passes for 929 yards with 2 TD passes and 3 interceptions.  He also carried the football 10 times for 20 yards (2.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  The Dolphins made a huge mistake in signing Culpepper instead of Drew Brees even though they pretty much had first choice between the free agent quarterbacks.
