The Dolphins wanted to get some help for the interior of their offensive line and they got that with the drafting of Samson Satele.  Satele is versatile as he can handle either center or guard in the Pros.  Satele is a monster in the running game as he’s very, very strong at the point of attack.  Satele stands at 6′2″, 294 pounds but he’s a little slow when pulling or hitting a moving target.  Satele was a solid pick for the Dolphins as he should start soon and for a long time for them.

The Dolphins have re-signed Yeremiah Bell to a 1-year contract.  Bell started the season on the bench but then he got a chance to start mid-way through the season and he never looked back.  In 16 games last season, Bell made 68 tackles, had 2 sacks, defensed 13 passes, forced 3 fumbles and recovered 2 fumbles.  Look for Bell to continue his fine play this season for the Dolphins as he was a major find for them last season.

The Dolphins made a huge error in passing on Brady Quinn and they tried to fix their mistake by drafting BYU’s John Beck.  Beck is a little on the short side at 6′1″ by he’s not a little guy as he weighs in at 215 pounds.  Before the Combine in Indianapolis, most had Beck pegged as a 4th or 5th round pick.  But his workouts moved him up a lot of Draft Boards including the Dolphins.  Beck struggles with field vision due to his size and his fastball doesn’t have a lot of heat on it.  Also, Beck is already 25 years old so the clock is ticking pretty quickly on his NFL career.  In 43 games (38 starts) for BYU, Beck has completed 885 of 1,418 passes (62.4%) for 11,021 yards with 79 TD passes and only 34 interceptions.  The problem with taking Beck is that BYU QB’s usually have inflated numbers due to playing in an offensive league and those numbers tend to not translate well into the NFL.  Beck was likely a knee-jerk pick after the reaction the Dolphins got for passing on Brady Quinn.

Andre Goodman had shoulder surgery last Friday and he will be out indefinately.  The Dolphins need him back as he started 14 games for them last season.  In 15 games last season, Goodman made 41 tackles, defensed 9 passes, forced a fumble and recovered 2 fumbles.

When the 9th pick in the first round came up every Dolphins fan at their draft party in Miami were getting ready to cheer the pick of Brady Quinn but the cheers turned to loud boos when the Fins selected Ohio State’s Ted Ginn.  No one can doubt the athletic ability of Ted Ginn as he can run a 4.3 second 40 yard dash, but, he’s soft.  Not only is Ginn soft, but he’s coming off of a serious foot injury and he will not be ready to practice until at least July.  Ginn was a very productive player for the Buckeyes in his career there.  He played in 37 games (30 starts) and he caught 135 passes for 1,943 yards (14.4 avg) with 15 TD grabs.  He projects as a #2 WR in the NFL as he’s likely not tough enough to be a #1.  The bonus with Ginn is that he’s a fantastic return man.  He returned 38 kickoffs at Ohio State for 1,012 yards (26.6 avg) with 2 TD returns.  He also is an unbelievable punt returner as he returned 64 punts for 900 yards (14.1 avg) with 6 TD returns for the Buckeyes.  The Dolphins better hope that Ginn stays healthy or they will be reminded often of passing on Brady Quinn.
